On August 2, 2023, Margie Carolyn King Almand, has passed on to her next adventure. She was 95 years young.
She was born in Atlanta on June 22, 1928, at her home and was delivered by her mother. Her parents were the late Lawson Ira King and Lillian B. King. She was the youngest of three girls. Her sisters were Katherine and Marcine, both now deceased. She attended Girls High School in Atlanta and was very active in church her whole life. She played the piano in church for many years as well as on the radio. She married her second husband, LTC B.F. Almand, III on August 6, 1988, at Fort Gilliam Army Base in Forest Park. She then became a resident of Habersham County, and she and B.F. lived on the top of Goshen Mountain in the Batesville Community for many years. They later moved to Fairview in December 1994. Margie was a volunteer at Habersham Medical Center with her husband for many years, and she was an avid reader. She never lost her awareness until the end. She was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for many years.
She is survived by five children: Claudia Ann St. Martin (Richard), Timothy David Williams (Darlene), Susan Margaret Benitez (Nathaniel), James Paul Williams (Cheryl), and John Thomas Williams, as well as 13 grandchildren, 14 ½ great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, her dog Riley and grand dog Falkor, and her cats Rascal and Pyewacket.
Funeral services will be held graveside at 1:00 PM, Monday, August 14, 2023, at Marietta National Cemetery, with Dr. Craig Ward officiating.
Margie lived a long and amazing life, and she was ready to go.
