Some Banks County residents lost their car but firefighters saved their home from fire early Thursday.

The pre-dawn blaze broke out at 216 Hoke Caudell Road in Homer. Units from Banks County Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire at 1:17 a.m.

“Upon arrival, units found a vehicle fully involved with fire that had extended to the residence located nearby,” says Banks County Fire Chief Steve Nichols.

The fire destroyed the vehicle and caused moderate fire and smoke damage to the residence.

Nichols says the residents were home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The fire was listed as a vehicle fire and was ruled accidental.
