GSP identifies Toccoa woman killed in Banks County wreck

The Georgia State Patrol has identified the Toccoa woman killed in a pre-dawn crash Friday in Banks County as Amy Melissa Johnson.

The 42-year-old died as a result of injuries she sustained in a rollover wreck at 1029 Highway 63 in Commerce.

The wreck happened shortly after midnight on July 7.

According to the state patrol accident report, Johnson was driving a Jeep Gladiator east on Hwy. 63 near Bennett Road when she ran off the road in a curve. The Jeep struck a driveway culvert, causing the vehicle to vault into the air and overturn.

Johnson was ejected from the top hatch. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are waiting on the results of toxicology tests as part of their investigation into the fatal crash.
