A Mt. Airy man faces two felony assault charges after investigators say he beat a woman with his fists and threatened to kill her.
Habersham County sheriff’s deputies took 40-year-old Douglas Mashburn into custody on Friday, June 30.
According to the arrest warrant, Mashburn “used violence to cause wounds over the entirety of [the victim’s] upper body, rendering her weak and hardly able to move from the injuries.”
The warrant also states he beat the woman “with intent to murder.”
Deputies arrested Mashburn within an hour of the alleged assault, which is reported to have occurred between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Friday. They charged Mashburn with aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
As of Monday afternoon, Mashburn remained in the Habersham County Detention Center on a $44,200 bond.
