The family of Joyce Marie Gibson Moore, 65, of Turnerville, GA, is deeply saddened to announce her passing. Joyce passed away on June 13, 2023, surrounded by her family and full of love.
She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 47 years, Edward Moore; beloved children, Amy Moore Serrao (Michael Serrao) and Catherine Moore (Miciah Woods); granddaughter and apple of her eye, Charlie Serrao; brother, Tommy Gibson (Janice Gibson); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charlie and Jewel Moore; sisters-in-law, Joann Rodacker and Geraldine Gibson (Allen Mayes); and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dillard and Barbara Gibson.
Though famous for her apple pound cake and her love of azaleas in bloom, she was most known for her caring spirit and deep love. Joyce would always tell her loved ones, “I love you to the moon and back.” In life, she always focused on living with love in her heart and arms wrapped around her family. Her greatest joy in life was becoming “Nonna” and making memories with her granddaughter. Though deeply saddened at her passing, the family wishes to honor her life by continuing the love that she gave. We are left with three truths from Joyce: the azaleas will bloom again, the pound cake will always be delicious, and her love will carry on to the moon and back.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Joann “Mama Jo” Rodacker, Cindy Scott, Brenda Ivester, and the many family members and friends who provided care and love for her. Additionally, the family is thankful for the amazing care provided by Northeast Georgia Medical Center Palliative Care and Northeast Georgia Medical Center Hospice.
A private Celebration of Life service will take place at a later date. Online condolences may be shared at Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation to The American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, Maryland 20852, or online at https://www.kidneyfund.org in Joyce’s memory.
