The Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire that burned several residents out of their homes Thursday. The blaze broke out before noon at a single-story duplex in the 4300 block of McClure Drive in Oakwood.

Hall County 911 dispatched firefighters to the scene at approximately 11:54 a.m. on May 4. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from inside one of the units.

Firefighters attacked the fire from the outside, says Hall County Fire Rescue spokesperson Kimberlie Ledsinger.

The fire spread into the attic of the second unit.

“Overall, the fire was knocked down quickly after HCFR’s arrival, and both the primary and secondary searches were all clear,” Ledsinger says.

No residents or firefighters were injured at the scene.

The American Red Cross was notified to assist the two adults and three children who were displaced due to the damage.
