Tallulah Falls competed in Day Two of the Region 8-A DI Championships on Wednesday. After seeing a pair of athletes claim individual region titles and several earning state sectional bids on Tuesday, the team set out for more history on the final day of the meet.
Tuesday Highlights: The Lady Indians ended Tuesday in 3rd place among six teams, with the Indians in 5th place out of six squads. Sam Ketch’s discus throw was about a 10-foot PR, and Ade Akisanya’s shot put was also a personal best. The boys’ 4×200 Relay broke a school record with a 1:32.76, as Nana Amankwah, Blair Moore, Nnamdi Ezunu, and Tyler Brown teamed up to make history. They bested their own previous record set last season (same quartet).
Wednesday Highlights: Julianne Shirley notched an individual region title with the top spot in the 400, and Molly Mitchell was right behind as the Runner-Up. The girls’ 4×400 Relay also took first place as region champs and did so with a multi-second PR. Several others got PRs, including Sofia Rueda and Dani Prince in the 300 MH, the latter getting a PR by .01.
