Wendell Lee Wooley, age 63, of Clarkesville, Georgia, took his heavenly flight home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 24, 2023.
Born in Columbia, South Carolina, on May 20, 1959, he was a son of the late George Ray Wooley & the late Patricia Norman Snyder. Wendell served his country proudly for seven years in the United States Army. Following his discharge from the Army in 1984, he began his service in law enforcement and faithfully served in the following departments with a career that spanned over 34 years: Cornelia Police Department, Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, Banks County Sheriff’s Office, Maysville Police Department, and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. In his spare time, Wendell enjoyed catfishing, collecting “Case” knives, listening to Southern Gospel Music, and through his time at home, listening to C.T. Townsend preach from the Word of God. Most of all, he loved the Lord, was a devoted husband, a dedicated Dad, and a doting Papa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-dad, Wayne Snyder; mother-in-law, Virginia Church Eller & by his best friend, Grover Addis.
Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Pamela Franklin Wooley of Clarkesville, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Matthew Odell & Kim Wooley of Cleveland, GA; daughters & sons-in-law, Amy & Jason Farlow of Mount Airy, GA; Beth & Justin Anderson of Demorest, GA; Amanda & Dustin Vandergriff of Clarkesville, GA; grandchildren, Xander Lane Wooley, JoAnn Grace Wooley, Michael Farlow, Dalton Cobb, Gabriel Anderson, Brody Anderson, & Jonah Anderson; brother & sister-in-law, Wesley & Vicki Wooley of Orange Park, FL; sisters & brothers-in-law, Lemay & Steve Harkins of Summerville, SC; Gina & Tim Lane of Columbia, SC; Sharon Brown of SC; aunt & uncle, Lenora & Dick Harman of WV; uncle & aunt, Dolton & Nova Norman of SC; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, & a host of friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023, at the Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville, Georgia, with Rev. Kenneth McEntire & Rev. Tony Goss officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Hillside Gardens Cemetery will full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023.
