A residential fire caused extensive damage but no injuries when it broke out Friday afternoon in Gainesville.
Around 1 p.m. on April 14, Hall County firefighters were dispatched to the burning home in the 5000 block of Watchman’s Cove. Flames were shooting through the garage roof when they arrived.
It took firefighters about ten minutes to knock out the fire, which also burned the homeowner’s vehicle parked outside the garage.
“Crews continued to prevent any additional flames from spreading, and were successful in extinguishing the fire that had risen to the attic space above the garage,” says Kimberlie Ledsinger, Hall County Fire Rescue PIO.
One resident was present at the time of the fire, but safely exited the home before firefighters arrived.
Ledsinger says the cause of the fire is not known at this time. The Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
