Charlene Tyler Mullinax, age 65, of Clarkesville, Georgia, took her heavenly flight home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 19, 2023, following an extended illness.
Born in EL Paso, Texas on July 30, 1957, she was a daughter of the late Emory John & Evie Pauline Burrell Tyler. Charlene retired from Ethicon – Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, where she worked as a cook for many years. She enjoyed Facebooking, yard selling, and collecting Paparazzi Jewelry in her spare time. She was a faithful member of Friendly Mission Baptist Church, where she served on the social committee for many years and was affectionately known as “Granny” to her grandchildren as well as many others.
In addition to her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by the love of her life of 43 years, Barry Melvin Mullinax; her sister, Emily Tyler DeHart; and an infant sister, Patricia Jane Tyler.
Survivors include her daughter & son-in-law, Laura & Chad Simmemon of Alto, GA; grandchildren, Dedra & Victor Sanchez of Cornelia, GA; Shelby Simmemon of Demorest, GA; Chloe Simmons, Sabrina Dodd, Dallas Dodd, Emi Dodd all of Clarkesville, GA; great-grandchildren, Mason Wilson of Alto, GA; Kinsley Simmemon, Constance Scott, & Sarah Scott all of Demorest, GA; Ruby Sanchez of Cornelia, GA; nephew & spouse, Guy “Gator” & Allison Mullinax of Alto, GA; niece & spouse, Jeannie & William Dodd of Clarkesville, GA; uncle, John Tyler of Lavonia, GA; aunt, Bonnie Babcock of Flora, IN; other cousins, relatives, & a host of friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Danny O’Kelly & Rev. Devin O’Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendly Mission Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.
