Tallulah Falls boys, girls fall to Rabun in region semifinals

GIRLS

The Lady Indians dropped a 67-56 game at the hands of #2-ranked Rabun County on Thursday evening at Piedmont University in the Region 8-A DI semifinals. Denika Lightbourne posted her seventh 30-point game of the season in the loss.

Rabun County jumped out to an 18-7 lead after the first quarter of play. Both teams scored 15 in the second to make it a 33-22 game at the half. Rabun added to that lead to take a 16-point lead into the final quarter.

Lightbourne tallied 32 points and added 9 rebounds. Tanisha Seymour and Haygen James had 8 points apiece, Breelyn Wood had 7 points and 10 rebounds, and Molly Mitchell had a point.

TFS moves to 8-15 overall, and will take on the loser of the Elbert County-vs-Athens Christian semifinals game. That consolation game will determine the three and four seed going into the state tournament.

BOYS

The Indians lost in the Region 8-A DI semifinals at Piedmont University on Thursday evening to Rabun County by a 74-62 final. It marked a third straight loss overall and a third loss this season to the Wildcats.

TFS was paced by Anfernee Hanna with his team-high 22 points. The Indians move to 16-9 overall, and will take on Elbert County on Friday in the Consolation game to determine the third and fourth seed heading into the state tournament.
