Northeast Georgia authorities say a 12-year-old boy who was missing for four days has been found safe.

Jackson County sheriff’s investigators say Mason Statum ran away from home on February 11. He was safely located on February 15.

A public lookout posted by the sheriff’s office said Statum was believed to be in the Winder-Barrow area. Officials did not say where he was found.

His mother, Sara Statum, posted several emotional pleas on social media for her son’s safe return. After receiving the news that he’d been found, she wrote: “Thank you God and thank you to everyone who prayed and shared our cries for help to find him.”
