I-985 North at the I-985/I-85 split in Gwinett County is back open. The northbound lanes were closed after a small plane made an emergency landing on the interstate.
By 6 p.m., northbound traffic was moving slowly.
The single-engine Piper PA-28 landed around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday on I-985 near Woodward Mill Road. The incident shut down the northbound lanes approximately four miles south of the Mall of Georgia exit.
Authorities diverted northbound traffic onto I-85.
According to WSB-TV, the plane took off from the Lawrenceville Airport. It’s unclear why the pilot made an emergency landing.
There were no reports of any injuries.
Authorities used a firetruck to tow the plane from the scene.
