The single-engine Piper PA-28 landed around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday on I-985 near Woodward Mill Road. The incident shut down the northbound lanes approximately four miles south of the Mall of Georgia exit.

Authorities diverted northbound traffic onto I-85.

According to WSB-TV, the plane took off from the Lawrenceville Airport. It’s unclear why the pilot made an emergency landing.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Authorities used a firetruck to tow the plane from the scene.
