Lady Indians grab comeback win; Hanna reaches 1,000 points in boys’ loss

GIRLS

The Lady Indians were propelled by a stellar third quarter in a 58-54 comeback win at Athens Christian on Friday night.

After falling behind 17-10 in the first, TFS saw that deficit reach 32-23 heading into the break.

Down 9, the Lady Indians rallied with a 14-3 third quarter to pull ahead 37-35 going into the final quarter. TFS edged Athens Christian the rest of the way to the 58-54 final.

Denika Lightbourne led the offense with 29 points, while Molly Mitchell had 12 and Tanisha Seymour 10. Breelyn Wood had 6 points and Millie Holcomb had 2 in the win.

The Lady Indians are now 6-11 overall and move to 2-1 in region play.

BOYS

Tallulah Falls suffered a 60-57 loss Friday night at Athens Christian. Despite at one point holding a 10-point lead, the #6-ranked Indians watched the Eagles surge back to claim the region win.

TFS was led in scoring by Anfernee Hanna with 23 points, which featured him eclipsing 1,000 career points. Coming into the game, Hanna needed 21 points.

Vlad Popescu had 12 points in the loss. The Indians have now taken back-to-back losses, and are now 13-4 overall and 2-1 in region play.

JV BOYS

The JV Indians posted a 49-29 win Friday night at Athens Christian.

Both Hayden Bootle and Teryk Tilley reached double figures in scoring with 16 and 14 points, respectively.

Jay Taylor and Andrija Vujacic had 7 points each, Timothy Bain added 4, and Wyatt Franks one.

The win streak reaches five for TFS, which is now 12-1 on the season and 3-0 in region contests.
