Patrick Schupp of Fairview Elementary School is Habersham County’s new spelling bee champ. Schupp won the school system’s district-wide competition on Wednesday, January 11.
It was a tough competition, with over 20 rounds of spelling before Schupp emerged as the winner. He now advances to the regional Scripps spelling bee competition.
North Habersham Middle School student Julia Betzios is this year’s runner-up. She and Schupp competed with the top spellers from Habersham’s six other elementary and middle schools.
The competition was held at the Habersham Central High School Performing Arts Center in Mt. Airy.
