The Banks County Fire Department says an electrical fault may be to blame for a fire that broke out inside a residence that was under renovation in Baldwin. The Monday afternoon blaze heavily damaged the house at 140 Hill Road.
Units from Banks County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the scene around 2:19 p.m. on December 19. When firefighters arrived at the single-family residence, smoke and flames were showing.
“An aggressive interior attack was made, and the fire was quickly contained,” says Banks County Fire Chief Steve Nichols. “The home was under renovations and no one was on the property at the time of the fire.”
The house sustained moderate to heavy damage throughout.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Banks County Fire Department, but an electrical fault could not be ruled out. It has been ruled accidental at this time. No injuries were reported.
