School system has 16 position vacancies

Dr. Robert Barron, Chairman of Habersham’s Board of Education, says he fully expects to have all school system position vacancies filled by the start of the school year – Friday, August 7 for students.

There were 16 positions vacant at the time of Monday’s board meeting. Of the 16, 3 positions are for certified personnel. One position Elementary; one is for an EIP Teacher to work 49% of the time at Level Grove Elementary. The third certified personnel position is for a Speech and Language Pathologist, who may work at several schools in the system.

Other position vacancies follow:

  • Special Education Paraprofessionals at Habersham Central, Level Grove Elementary, North Habersham Middle School, South Habersham Middle School, and Woodville Elementary;
  • School Nutrition Assistants at Cornelia Elementary and Level Grove Elementary;
  • Custodians at Level Grove Elementary and Woodville Elementary;
  • One Kindergarten Paraprofessional at Level Grove Elementary;
  • One Substitute Bus Driver, system-wide;
  • One Security Guard (49%-time) at Habersham Central High School; and
  • One Finance and Accounting Specialist at the County Office.

A special meeting has been called for the BOE to vote on filling the vacancies. That meeting, on August 3, will be at 9 a.m. in the Media Center of the Ninth Grade Academy.
