The long-awaited arrival of Dunkin’ Donuts in Cornelia is here. The newly built store in the Habersham Village Shopping Center hosted a soft opening at noon Tuesday, November 8th.
The store was open to the public and served as a nice distraction from all the Election Day noise. Like the turnout at the polls, there was a steady stream of customers who filed through the store and drive-thru – about 50 passed through during the 30 minutes Now Habersham was there.
People in Habersham have been waiting a year for this store to open, ever since plans were first announced last November. Construction was delayed when builders had to submit new site plans, so, it took longer than expected. In the meantime, the county welcomed its first Dunkin’ in Clarkesville this past July. Unlike the Clarkesville store, the Cornelia location is not paired with a Baskin Robbins Ice Cream store.
Tuesday’s opening was a test run to prepare for the grand opening on Saturday, November 12. That’s when DD devotees are expected to line up early to get free coffee coupons. No specific time has yet been announced.
