Hall County investigators arrest Gainesville man on child pornography charges

A Gainesville man faces four felony charges of sexual exploitation of a minor after Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigators allegedly found him in possession of pornographic videos containing explicit images of children.

Investigators arrested Jeffrey H. Shinn, 47, on Thursday, Nov. 3, after executing a search warrant at his Gainesville residence.

According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation determined Shinn had shared pornographic videos on two occasions, once on Aug. 29, 2022, and again on Sept. 19, 2022. Shinn is accused of using peer-to-peer software to download the videos.

“There is no evidence to suggest the children in the video are from the local area, nor is there evidence to suggest Shinn manufactured the videos himself,” a press release from the sheriff’s office states.

While executing the search warrant, investigators seized several electronic devices belonging to Shinn. Officials say additional charges are possible depending on the outcome of the electronic processing of the devices.
