Eva Beth Nicholson “Granny” Beck, age 85, of Mt. Airy, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022.
Born on October 8, 1937, in Greenville, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Zila Bennett Youngblood. Mrs. Beck retired from Ethicon in 1997 after 28 years working as a distributor; she also worked for Rite-Aid Pharmacy in Cornelia for many years. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Beck; son, Terry Beck; grandson, Matthew Benton; brother, R.L. Nicholson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary King (Paul), Helen Cape (Omer), and Jean Hanley (Henry); brother-in-law, Scott Culpepper.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Regina Beck Benton (Todd) of Mt. Airy; grandsons and spouses, Seth Benton (Page) and Eli Benton (Sarah) all of Mt. Airy; great granddaughters, Miyah and Maggie Benton; sisters and brother-in-law, Ann Culpepper of Gainesville, Betty Purcell (Rev. Lamar) of Gainesville; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the funeral home.
Services are scheduled for 2 pm on Friday, October 21, 2022, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Lamar Purcell and Rev. Larry Youngblood officiating. Interment will follow in Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery.
