The deadline is approaching for parents and guardians to apply for holiday assistance through Toys for Kids. The program, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Habersham County, will provide Christmas gifts for around 600 children this year. Toys for Kids serves children from infancy through the 5th grade.
Those seeking assistance must apply by the deadline, Friday, November 11. Applications are available at the following locations:
- All Habersham County public elementary schools
- Habersham County Board of Education
- Habersham Head Start
- Sharing and Caring in Clarkesville (Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m.- 12:45 p.m.)
- Sharing and Caring in Cornelia (Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m.)
- Habersham United Way office (Monday- Friday 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., call to confirm someone there at 706-778-0620).
Parents with children in Habersham County Schools or Head Start should turn in their applications at their child’s school.
Parents with children who reside in Habersham who are not yet school age or are in other schools should turn in their applications to the Board of Education, Sharing and Caring, or United Way.

Donations
Those who would like to contribute to the program may do so by donating new toys, books, or new or gently used coats, hats, and scarves. Items may be dropped off at any of the following locations:
- The Cornelia City Hall
- Clarkesville Library
- Cornelia Library
- Habersham Board of Education
- Habersham County Schools
Monetary donations are also accepted. Checks may be mailed to Kiwanis Club of Habersham County, PO Box 1507, Cornelia, GA 30531.
