Goodwill to open Clarkesville donation center July 29th

Goodwill is setting up a donation site on the Clarkesville square.

Goodwill of North Georgia will open the doors to its Clarkesville donation center next week. A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, July 29 at 10 a.m. The donation center is located downtown at 1500 Washington Street.

The Clarkesville donation center is one of several new sites the nonprofit is opening in the area. A Goodwill store and career center in Cornelia is slated to open this September. The organization also has plans for donation centers in Commerce and Toccoa.

Goodwill of North Georgia Public Relations Director Elaine Armstrong told Now Habersham in June, “We’re excited about expanding our footprint in Habersham County and looking forward to serving even more people.”

Goodwill of North Georgia was established in 1925. It’s mission is to put people to work. Goodwill does that through job traning and placement programs. Last fiscal year the agency says it provided job training and employment services to 45,540 people and helped 14,652 people find jobs or start new businesses. The organization currently operates 53 stores and more than 60 attended donation centers.
