Baldwin combines with Habersham South voting precinct

The city of Baldwin voting precinct is moving. Instead of going to city hall to cast ballots in this year’s general election, Baldwin residents will go to their county precincts.

Baldwin residents in Habersham will vote at the Cornelia Community House located at 601 Wyly Street in Cornelia. Baldwin residents in Banks County will vote at the Banks County Recreation Department.

Consolidating the precincts should make it easier for voters who previously had to go to two different precincts to vote in municipal and county/state/federal elections.

The Cornelia Community House is a temporary precinct. Eventually, Habersham South will be housed in the new county elections office in the old Sears building off of U.S. 441 in Cornelia. However, that building is being renovated and Ellison says it will not be ready in time for this year’s election.

The Habersham County Elections and Voter Registration Office and the Habersham South Precinct will both eventually be housed in this building in the Habersham County Shopping Center near Belk in Cornelia. (now habersham.com)

“All voters located in the City of Baldwin Precinct will receive new precinct cards with the new location and address,” she says.

Ellison urges voters who do not receive updated precinct cards to contact their Elections & Voter Registration Office. The elections office number in Habersham is 706-839-0170. In Banks County, it’s 706-677-6260.

All early voting in Habersham County will take place at the Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center at 120 Paul Johnson Road in Clarkesville.

October 11 is the deadline to register to vote in the November election. You may register online through the Georgia Secretary of State’s office or at your county voter registration office.
