The Georgia State Patrol has charged a Gainesville driver with 2nd-degree vehicular homicide in a head-on collision that killed a Cleveland man. Troopers took 25-year-old Corson Gibbes Teasley into custody Saturday following the wreck that killed Robert Maynor.
The crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. July 30 on GA 115 near Shenandoah Road in White County.
Troopers from Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville responded to the two-vehicle crash. According to their report, Teasley was westbound in a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck when he crossed the center line and ran head-on into an eastbound Hyundai Elantra driven by Maynor. Teasley told troopers he fell asleep at the wheel.
Maynor was pronounced dead at the scene. Teasley was not injured. In addition to 2nd-degree vehicular homicide, troopers charged him with failure to maintain lane. He was booked into the White County Jail and released on August 1 on a $3,000 bond.
The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) helped with the investigation.
