A bomb threat on Tuesday disrupted classes on a North Georgia Technical College campus for the second day. Around 12:52 p.m., the school evacuated staff and students from the instructional building in Blairsville.

Law enforcement swept the building, searching for possible explosives but did not find any. They gave the all-clear around 3:27 p.m. and classes resumed as scheduled.

A similar threat Monday forced the evacuation of the Visual Technology Center on the NGTC campus in Clarkesville. K9s and deputies searched the premises and found no explosives or devices. The Clarkesville campus was one of eight schools in the Technical College System of Georgia that were targeted by bomb threats on July 25. Another college outside the system was also targeted.

The GBI says its Explosive Ordinance Detection unit responded to some of the threats. The FBI is also investigating the source of these threats.

“FBI Atlanta is aware of bomb threats across the state,” according to Jenna Sellitto, with the public affairs division. “The FBI takes all potential threats seriously, and we regularly work with our law enforcement partners to determine their credibility. As always, we would like to remind members of the public that if they observe anything suspicious to report it to law enforcement immediately.”
