Johnnie Ernest Brown, age 85, of Maitland, Florida, and formerly of Roswell, Georgia, went home to be with his dear wife, Lila, and his Lord & Savior on Saturday, July 23, 2022, following an extended illness.
Born in Alhambra, California, on December 27, 1936, he was a son of the late John Frost & Irene Tourigny Brown. Johnnie served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of The University of California – Long Beach, where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Johnnie worked as a traveling salesman for companies like Dick Blick, Grumbacher, & Atlanta Art Supply, selling various supplies for many years. His most favorite employment was painting furniture with Habersham Plantation Furniture Company. In his spare time, Johnnie was an accomplished artist who, when his art was displayed, all but he considered his artistic skills a treasured gift from God. His beautiful pictures are on display at many galleries and homes across the United States, including currently at the Tranquility Fine Arts Gallery, 9194 Main Street, Suite B in Woodstock, Georgia.
In addition to his parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Lila Anne Burrell Brown; brother, David Brown; father-in-law & mother-in-law, William Robert & Bertha “Bert” Holcomb Burrell; niece, Melody Burrell Maxwell; brother-in-law, Rev. Walter Burrell; & sister-in-law, Eugenie Smith Burrell.
Survivors include his loving daughter, Robyn Brown of Casselberry, FL; brothers & sisters-in-law, Tim & Chris Brown of NC; Tom & Lou Ann Brown of Acworth, GA; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Brown of CA; brother-in-law, Rev. Billy Burrell of Mount Airy, GA; sister-in-law, Pat Burrell of Demorest, GA; nieces, Kelsey Brown, Courtney Knieriem, Keri Brown, Danielle Brown, Desiree Brown, Monica Jung, Lisa Brown, & Neysa Joy Burrell; nephews, Bill Burrell, Bobby Burrell, & Rev. Greg Burrell & their families, a host of other relatives, & friends.
A homegoing celebration service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville, Georgia with Mr. Geoff Wiggins, Rev. Billy Burrell, & Rev. Greg Burrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazel Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the Grant Reeves Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour on Saturday.
