Johnnie Carolyn Bell, age 88, of Gainesville, entered heaven Tuesday morning, July 19, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Carolyn was born April 9, 1934, in Gainesville to the late John Silas Barrett & Myrtle Martin Barrett. She attended Sardis & Lyman Hall schools and then attended Gainesville High School. Carolyn retired from the Hall County Hospital and then Northeast Georgia Medical Center as the switchboard operator and in billing with 29 years of service. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Gid Corman Bell; brother, Ralph Barrett & sister, Annie Fay Farr.
Left to cherish the sweet memories, son, Kenneth Michael (Susan) Bell; daughter, Terri Bell (Keith) Comer; brothers, Charles Barrett & Harry Franklin Barrett; grandchildren, Caroline Comer, John Comer, Jamie (Chris) Forrester, Holli (Tracy) Bryant, Kelley (Kelly) Edwards & Lance (Kristy) Edwards; great-grandchildren, Kaiti (Jake) Law, Emma Grace Forrester, Tray (Kory) Bryant, Morgan Bryant, Jared Edwards, Cade Edwards, Kaitlyn Edwards, Dylan Edwards & Noah Edwards; great-grandchildren, Jackson Law & Rilynn Tate Bryant; a number of nieces, nephews & other relatives also survive.
Funeral services honoring Carolyn will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the Ward’s Funeral Home Chapel with her brother, Rev. Charles Barrett officiating. Burial will be beside her husband, Gid Corman Bell, at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday before the service at the funeral home.
