For the second consecutive year, the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia has recognized District 10 state Rep. Victor Anderson with its Legislative Service Award. ACCG Deputy Legislative Director Todd Edwards presented Anderson with his award during the June 28 meeting of the Rabun County Board of Commissioners. The ACCG Legislative Service Awards program honors state House and Senate members for their work during the legislative session.
“The annual Legislative Service Awards program continues to underscore ACCG’s appreciation for the dedicated members of the Georgia General Assembly,” says Executive Director Dave Wills. “This program also exemplifies the importance of state and local officials working together to best serve those who call our state home.”
Rep. Anderson, a former Habersham County commissioner, chaired the 2021 House Study Committee on Annexation and sponsored House Bill 1461 during the 2022 legislative session. According to ACCG, the bill made many needed and reasonable changes to the state’s annexation arbitration law, recognizing that all impacted citizens should have their voices heard in annexation disputes. Anderson is a member of the House Governmental Affairs Committee and has assisted ACCG with bills impacting county government, home rule, and county taxpayers.
Anderson calls ACCG a “valuable resource” and “advocate” for county governments and their constituents.
