Claire grew up in East Point, Georgia. As a child, she loved reading and had an adventurous spirit. She was happiest when riding her horse, Lucky. Her deep love for animals continued throughout her life. Claire graduated from Headland High School in 1973. She served as a nursing assistant at South Fulton Hospital and then moved to Statesboro, Georgia, where she served as Manager of the Halfway House at Willingway. She then moved to Yatesville, Georgia, where she served as a Child Advocate through the Department of Juvenile Justice. She was most proud to have advocated and served the children of Georgia for nineteen years. She was equally proud of her sobriety of almost forty years, where she was an active member of A.A. In 2010, she retired and moved to Tiger, Georgia, to be closer to her mother.
