State and local fire investigators say arson is to blame for an early morning house fire in Cornelia on June 6. Now, Georgia Arson Control is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

The fire at 132 Circle Drive extensively damaged the home. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to one side of the residence but there was heavy heat and water damage throughout the structure, says Cornelia Fire Marshal Josh Hazle.

The Cornelia and State Fire Marshal’s offices investigated the blaze. Hazle says they do not believe it’s related to a fire that broke out two days later at a residence on Lakeside Circle that destroyed a mobile home.

Anyone with information about the Circle Drive fire is asked to call the Georgia Arson Control HOTLINE at 1-800-282-5804.
