There’s a new man in charge at the White County Fire Department. The county hired Mike LeFevre to succeed Seth Weaver who stepped down as Fire Division Chief earlier this year.
White County Public Safety Director David Murphy says LeFevre was chosen for the job after the county conducted an extensive selection process. He adds they reviewed many qualified candidates for the job. Sixteen people applied and five were interviewed for the position.
LeFevre has served in the fire service for 23 years. He began his career in 1999 in Hall County where he earned his fire certification and also certified as a National Registered Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate. He went on to earn the rank of sergeant, then lieutenant. LeFevre has served as a part-time firefighter and quartermaster for White County since 2017.
According to Murphy, LeFevre was a crucial member of White County’s COVID response team. He ordered and delivered needed equipment and supplies from the emergency management stockpile. Outside of the fire service, LeFevre’s leadership experience spans over 20 years of owning and operating a successful business.
LeFevre is a member of the Christian Gospel music group, The LeFevre Quartet.
Mike and his wife Kathy have been married for 35 years. They have two children and five
grandchildren. Both are active in their church and “enjoy doing life together,” Murphy says. He adds, “Mike has been a vital part of our department. He has the support of our team and the knowledge and skills needed for this role. We look forward to him and Kathy becoming part of our community.”
Chief LeFevre’s first day on the job is June 18.
