The Vega String Quartet Student Showcase will perform the Center Stage again this year for the Cannon Classical Music Series at Sautee Nacoochee Cultural Center. The showcase will take place on Sunday, May 22, at 4:00 p.m.

The Vega String Quartet Student Showcase is an afternoon of classical music presented by students of the Emory Youth Chamber Program. EYCP provides intensive small ensemble training to young Atlanta-area pianists and string players. Students are generally 10-18 years old. Over the course of the semester, groups of students receive coaching sessions from members of the Vega Quartet and participate in masterclasses with the Quartet as well as with guest artists.

The Vega String Quartet, Quartet-in-Residence at Emory University, is cultivating a new generation of chamber music lovers through dynamic performances and innovative community engagement. The New York Times raved that “the Quartet’s playing had a kind of clean intoxication to it, pulling the listener along … the musicians took real risks in their music making.” The concert is followed by a question-and-answer session with the performers.

Tickets are $25 for SNCA Members, $28 for Adults, and $8 for Students. Purchase tickets here or by calling 706-878-3300.
