For the second time in two days, paramedics had to airlift an injured driver to the hospital following a wreck on US 441/GA 15 in Rabun County.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the crash happened just before 2 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Billingsley’s Garden Center in Rabun Gap.
Troopers say Phyllis Petty, 66, was attempting to turn south onto the highway in a Dodge Ram pickup when she pulled into the path of a northbound Honda CR-V. The driver of the Honda, 82-year-old Betty Clark, was seriously injured in the wreck and was airlifted to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Troopers charged Petty with failure to yield.
The day prior to this accident, another driver had to be airlifted to the hospital after he was severely injured in a wreck in Tallulah Falls. Troopers charged that driver, 21-year-old Emanuel Leonardo Mendoza of Gainesville, with DUI. The wreck injured six others.
