SR 184 in Stephens County reopens after being blocked by overturned truck

State Route 184 at Gulley Road in Stephens County is back open after being closed for several hours due to an overturned tractor-trailer.

Around 10 a.m. on April 6, troopers with Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa were asked to respond to the scene. The truck driver, Michael Gordon of Toccoa, told troopers he had just turned left from Gulley Road when the truck struck the grassy shoulder of SR 184 westbound.

“The driver stated that slick grass on the shoulder caused him to slide into a ditch and overturn on its passenger’s side,” says GSP Post 7 Commander Donnie Sadler.

The Kenworth overturned in the ditch facing west. Gordon was not injured, Sadler says. Crews cleared the scene and the road reopened around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
