Two Lavonia residents have been arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine. Dustin Kellum, age 35, and Heather Hester, 36, were arrested Thursday during a traffic stop in Franklin County.

Authorities arrested the pair following a month-long joint investigation by the sheriff’s offices in Franklin and Stephens counties and the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office.

“Approximately 6.6 ounces of suspected methamphetamine were purchased during the investigation,” says ARDEO Asst. Special Agent in Charge Michael Marlar. The street value of the drugs is around $5,000.

Deputies booked Kellum and Hester at the Franklin County jail.

Marlar says the investigation is still active and ongoing.
