A wild game transpired on Thursday night at home, as the Indians won 23-13 and obliterated the record book against George Walton. The #10-ranked Indians set school records for homeruns with 7, as well as 23 runs and 20 hits. Joel Miller and Norman Bastian both had a pair of dingers, while Drew Bates, Frankey Moree, and Malique Charlton all went yard as well.

TFS capitalized on a 10-run third inning to take a commanding 11-4 lead. However, George Walton responded with 10 of their own in the fourth to go back up 14-11. A 7-run fifth sealed the win for the Indians.

After TFS had a 1-0 run off an error in the first, the visitors struck for 3 in the third to take a 3-1 lead. In the 10-run third for the Indians, Charlton had a 2-run single and Danny Grant had an RBI hit as well. Miller hit a 3-run shot to center to bust it open, with Bastian knocking a 2-run homer to right to cap the inning.

George Walton’s response with 10 included a 3-run round-tripper of its own. In the bottom of the fourth, Jeremy Medina doubled in two runs to tie the game at 13 apiece. Still tied going into the bottom of the fifth, the Indians opened their half of the frame with back-to-back solo homers from Bates and Bastian, both going over the right field fence. That was Bastian’s second homerun of the ball game. Two batters later, Charlton hit a 2-run homer to left to push the lead up to 17-13. Continuing the trend, Miller hit his second homerun, another 3-run bomb, to left. The 4 homeruns in the inning is also a school record, and had TFS up 20-13. Moree blasted his homer in the sixth as part of a 3-run sixth.

All told, Miller’s 7 RBI is a school single-game record. Bates, Bastian, Medina, and Moree all had 3 hits apiece, while Tyler Popham, Charlton, and Grant all had 2 hits apiece. Charlton finished with 4 RBI. Bastian also picked up the win in relief after going 2.2 innings and striking out 2.

TFS is now 7-4 overall on the season, and are now 1-1 in region play.
