Police arrested a Pendergrass man and charged him with 11 counts after a traffic stop Thursday in Jefferson. According to the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, officers stopped 29-year-old Darkevion Dwayne Parrish at the Quik Trip gas station. During the stop they say they found 18 grams of fentanyl in his car, along with one gram of heroin and prescription Percocet pills.
“The investigation led to a search warrant at Parrish’s residence. During the execution of the search warrant, approximately five pounds of marijuana, Oxycodone prescription pills, amphetamines, and two stolen handguns were seized as evidence,” says ARDEO Special Agent in Charge Trent Hillsman.
The marijuana, fentanyl, and heroin have a combined estimated street value of more than $15,000.
Officers charged Parrish with trafficking fentanyl, possession of heroin, possession of Schedule II pills, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by receiving a stolen firearm, and reckless conduct. They booked him into the Jackson County Jail.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, and ARDEO were involved in this investigation, which Hillsman says is still active and ongoing.
