A 24-year-old Carnesville woman was killed early Wednesday, February 2, in a single-vehicle wreck in Banks County, state troopers say. The driver was identified as Emily Pass, formerly of Mt. Airy.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, Pass was traveling west on Yonah Homer Road negotiating a curve when the vehicle left the road, went down a steep embankment, and overturned in a creek.
Emergency personnel responded to the crash about 2:45 a.m. on Yonah Homer Road near Hill Street in Homer. Pass died at the scene.
Banks County Coroner Mark Savage told reporters a passing motorist happened upon the scene and called for help. A young boy in the Mazda CX-7 was not injured, the Athens-Banner Herald reported.
The crash is still under investigation, according to the patrol.
