William Thomas “Tommy” Tyner age 77 of Gainesville gained his heavenly reward on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the Oaks of Athens.
Tommy was born October 12, 1944, in Gainesville to the late Clifford & Willie Morris Tyner. He went to school at Tadmore Elementary and finished his education at East Hall High School. Tommy began his professional career at Colonial Stores, then to Big Star. Once he left Big Star he worked at A & P then later worked and retired at Kroger. He was a member of Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church, where he & his family are very active. He served as a deacon and on various committees. He enjoyed hunting, fishing & camping, just so he could be outdoors with his family & friends. He was a wonderful husband, dad & friend.
He will be missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Diane Brewer Tyner; daughter, Kim (Robert) Crumley; son, Todd Tyner; grandchildren, Wesli LaBasci, Ashley Tyner, Devin Tyner & Trista Knapp; 3 great-grandchildren also survive along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services honoring Tommy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 7, 2022, at the Ward’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darryl Womack, Rev. Jack Hicks & Rev. Robby Williams officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2022.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Mike Morris, Chuck Ford, Chuckie Ford, Danny Dougherty, Frank Hooper, Steve Pierce, Cayden Bond & Donny Pruitt. The deacons at Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
