The North Hall Middle School Academic Team went through their 2021-2022 season undefeated, won a Region Championship and earned a trip to the state championship. The team faced tough competition against 18 other teams at the state tournament, held at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville on Jan. 22, narrowly missing the opportunity to advance to the finals.
“It is a privilege to work with kids that are so passionate about learning”, says Coach Lori McBride. “They have worked hard, and it is gratifying to see it pay off for them. They are an exceptional group of kids.”
An Academic Team competition consists of three games of thirty toss-up questions. A quick and correct response offers that team a chance at a bonus question. North Hall’s lightning-fast and accurate answers allowed them to build large leads with their extra points.
McBride and fellow coach Nathan Watson will miss their 8th graders who will move on to high school, but they are looking forward to the 2022-23 season with a strong group of returning team members.
