Jeff Wilson is now officially Cornelia’s Ward 1 commissioner. Wilson was sworn in at the City of Cornelia Commission’s Nov. 2 monthly meeting and partook in his first commission meeting following his swearing-in.

Wilson was sworn in by Cornelia City Attorney Steve Campbell, and has now filled the Ward 1 commissioner seat left empty after Wes Dodd’s unexpected death in September.

The commission voted unanimously at the beginning of October to appoint Wilson to serve as the Ward 1 commissioner until the March 2022 election, at which point he will have to run for city commissioner to keep his seat.

“Ultimately, I intend to serve the community in the best way I am able,” Wilson told Now Habersham after his appointment. “And add to Cornelia’s city commission with a positive attitude and a willingness to work with the other commissioners to give the city an opportunity to thrive.”
