Leonard Roscoe Burrell

Leonard Roscoe Burrell, age 96 of Cornelia, went home to Glory on Sunday, October 31, 2021.

Born on December 13, 1924, in Clarkesville, Georgia he was a son of the late Robert Glenn and Effie Trotter Burrell. Mr. Burrell was a self-employed building contractor. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Mr. Burrell was the oldest member of Level Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen James Burrell; daughter, Nancy Lynn Burrell Green; brothers, Wayne Burrell, G.B. Burrell, Hoyt Burrell and Dewey Burrell; sisters, Carria Esterline, Kathleen Campbell, Irene Rousey, Moleen Gaston and Melinda Burrell Lassiter.

Surviving are his sons and daughter-in-law, Keith Burrell and Wendell & Deb Burrell all of Cornelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Jane & Joe Gulley of Cornelia, Judy & Max Chosewood of Gainesville; son-in-law, Phillip Green of Demorest; grandchildren, Stacy Peterson, Dr. Casey Chosewood, Chad Chosewood, Rodney Long, Leah MacNellis, Wendy Tedder, Chad Tench, Brent Tench, Tammy Coley, Jaime Wilbanks, Chris Green and Josh Green; 27 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eloise Burrell Smith of Gulf Breeze, Florida; sister-in-law, Isabelle Burrell of Baltimore, Maryland; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm, Friday, November 5, 2021, at Level Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Brian James and Rev. Terry Rice officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery with military honors provided by the Grant Reeves Veteran’s Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.

The gentlemen honored to serve as pallbearers are Brent Tench, Chris Green, Rodney Long, Chad Chosewood, Josh Green and Casey Chosewood.
