Hallo-weekend kicks off across Northeast Georgia

It was two nights before Halloween, and all through the county, children were on the loose… looking for candy!

Friday night, the cities of Cornelia and Clarkesville hosted their downtown trick-or-treat events, where kids can trick-or-treat at local businesses, meet city officials, play games and enjoy Halloween fun.

Trick-or-treaters are pushing through the cold wet weather to show off their costumes and fill their treat bags.

“Even though the weather hasn’t been the best, I definitely feel like people showed up and are enjoying the day,” says Cornelia Tourism Coordinator Lindsey Fitzgerald. “I love to see all the kids in the costumes, it’s really cute, and all the adults that have dressed up as well.”

Cornelia’s trick-or-treating event wrapped up at 6 p.m. Friday and Clarkesville’s ended at 7 p.m.; Demorest held its city-sponsored trunk-or-treat event Thursday. Still, there’s more Hallo-weekend fun to come.

Events are happening all over Northeast Georgia. Check out Now Habersham’s Treat Tracker for times and locations.

With Halloween landing on Sunday this year, door-to-door trick-or-treating will take place at different times this weekend in different communities across the region. Police ask trick-or-treaters to be mindful of school hours on Monday and not knock on doors late into the night on October 31.

Even after the trick-or-treating is done, you can still enjoy some online Halloween fun with Now Habersham’s HABoween Costume Contest. Tag your photos #haboween and post them to our Facebook page. The photo with the most likes by midnight November 8th wins a $25 VISA gift card.

Happy HABoween!
