It’s almost Halloween, and as we inch closer to the beginning of winter, now is the perfect time to bring a cat into your home for warm snuggles. That’s why the Habersham County Animal Shelter is celebrating “Octo-purr” to help find cats and kittens their forever homes.
This week, meet Three and Gwen, two surrendered kitties who love each other a whole bunch.
Meet Gwen and Three
Gwen, a sweet female calico, is hoping to find a place for herself and her friend Three to call home forever.
Gwen was surrendered to the Habersham County Animal Shelter when her previous owner moved and couldn’t bring her with them.
“Losing my person was so hard,” Gwen says. “I never thought I’d feel whole again when I was sitting all alone in an unfamiliar room at the shelter. I was scared, and I didn’t know where home was anymore.”
Gwen tells Now Habersham that she felt like she might not feel loved again— but someone proved her wrong.
Three, a female long-haired tabby, was going through the same experience as Gwen, being a surrender herself. She worried that she might be alone, too, but with Gwen by her side, she feels a little stronger.
“We both were going through something painful that we never expected to happen,” Three says. “You can never prepare for your entire world changing. But even in that situation, where everything felt so scary, we found each other. We were able to be there for each other.”
Gwen and Three say that while the situations that lead them to the shelter were hard, they’re glad they had each other to get through the heartbreaking change. Now, the two are hoping they can find a place to call home for good, together.
“When we finally get to go home with someone who will love us forever, we’re going to be happier than we ever were before,” Gwen says. “We’ll have each other, we’ll have a home and we’ll be more loved than we’ve ever known.”
