A Hall County man is hospitalized after troopers say he opened fire at the State Patrol Post on the Cleveland Highway.
The unidentified man reportedly pulled into the parking lot at the Gainesville Post, confronted a trooper who was there and fired two shots with a large-caliber rifle. The trooper was uninjured and returned fire, striking the man who was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown.
Troopers believe they know who the man is but have not released a name. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is now inestigating the shooting.
The incident began around 8 am this morning. Investigators plan to search the man’s home later today.
