Cornelia streets closing, parking changes for Big Red Apple Festival

Cornelia’s Big Red Apple Festival is almost here, and while the event brings the community together for a day of fun, food and music, it also creates some road closures in Downtown Cornelia.

There will also be changes to parking, some lots will close at midnight on Saturday, so make sure you’re vehicle isn’t trapped there before the festivities begin. All on-street parking for the festival is considered handicapped parking on Saturday. Officers will issue citations to vehicles without handicapped identification.

Please be cautious when driving in the area on Saturday due to increased pedestrian traffic.

Road closures

  • Clarkesville Street will close Friday at 6 p.m. (Use Main Street to access downtown)
  • Irvin Street will close Saturday at 12:01 a.m. (Use Chattahoochee, Stovall, Ivie and Hoyt streets to access Level Grove Road from downtown)
  • Hodges Street will close Saturday at 12:01 a.m. (Use Chattahoochee, Stovall, Ivie and Hoyt streets to access Level Grove Road from downtown)

Parking lot closures

  • Appletree Alley public parking lot will close Saturday at 12:01 a.m.
  • The Cornelia Train Depot parking lot will close Saturday at 12:01 a.m.
  • The small public parking lot on North Main Street will close Saturday at 12:01 a.m.

Festival parking

  • Public Parking below Fenders Diner on Wells Street.
  • Public Parking at City Hall on Foreacre and Larkin Streets
  • Public Parking on S. Main Street across from Fire Station.
