Accomplished organist Nikolai Peek will be the musical guest of First Baptist Church Cornelia on Sunday, September 19, during worship at 11 a.m., then returning for a recital at 2 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
Nikolai has described the recital as “somewhat informal but still containing selections from well-known composers such as Bach and Buxtehude.” A surprise improvisation will take place at the end of the concert.
Nikolai Peek is the full-time Choir Director and Organist at First United Methodist Church, Henderson, Kentucky, where he oversees the Chancel, Children and Hand Bell Choirs. A member of the American Guild of Organists, Nikolai plans and develops organ and choral events in his region. In 2018, he graduated from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University with a Masters of Music in Organ Performance and Sacred Music.
Adopted at age four from a Bulgarian orphanage by Angie and Brian Peek of Cornelia, Nikolai had a love of music early on. While growing up in Cornelia, Nikolai studied under Mary Turner, later attending Piedmont College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music with Concentrations in Organ and Piano Performance in 2015.
Nikolai says, “It is my belief that I serve God, community and congregation through joyful music.” He is excited to return to his “home church,” FBC, “to share gifts and talents God has given him, and to this loving Northeast Georgia community.”
