Fifty-two percent of Georgia’s residents are now partially vaccinated and 45% are fully vaccinated, according to the latest figures from the Georgia Department of Public Health. In the 13 North Georgia counties covered by District Two Public Health, Forsyth and Towns both exceed the state vaccination rates. The other counties in the District, including Habersham, lag behind, the latest figures show.
As of September 10, public health officials say 18,259 Habersham Countians (41% of residents) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while 15,524 (35% of residents) are now fully vaccinated. That’s a two-percentage-point increase in both categories over the county’s full and partial vaccination rates at the end of August.
In the last two weeks, Habersham has recorded 529 cases of COVID, up from 300 cases during the last two weeks in August.
District 2 Public Health oversees the health departments in Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White counties.
Across the District, two-week COVID case rates have risen in all of the counties except Towns. There, they’ve actually seen a decline — from 103 cases on August 30th to 87 on September 10th.
