Students at Tallulah Falls School will return to their classrooms on September 7 following a week of online learning due to COVID.
TFS President and Head of School Larry Peevy informed parents of the decision Friday morning. He thanked them for their “strong support” of the school’s blended learning period this past week.
“It was a highly successful week and enabled all of us the opportunity to recharge and prepare for the months ahead,” Peevy said. “It is our goal to keep all of our students learning on our campus; we will accomplish this with your continued partnership and support.”
The school is asking parents to keep their sick children home and has adopted a “layered approach” to prevention protocols. This includes the use of thermal scanners, hand sanitizing, physical distancing when possible, and requiring masks on buses.
The school is also implementing a mask mandate on campus.
All TFS faculty and staff will wear masks indoors and students will be required to wear masks in specific indoor areas where physical distancing cannot take place. Those areas include, but are not limited to, specific classrooms, hallways, waiting in line, and large indoor gatherings and assemblies, Peevy said.
Following CDC guidelines, TFS will not require masked students exposed to a person testing positive to quarantine. The school is also encouraging parents to consider getting their kids
“Additionally, the FDA approved the Pfizer vaccination for individuals 16-over. We encourage you to explore this option for your child if age appropriate,” Peevy said.
The school’s blended learning platform remains available to students who are quarantined, have tested positive for COVID or have underlying health issues.
