CLEVELAND – Visitors to certain areas within the White County Sheriff’s Office are now required to wear masks. Those entering the restricted access part of the building where administrative offices are housed, must wear masks or face coverings.

Sheriff Rick Kelley imposed the mask mandate “due to the concerning rise of COVID infections in our area,” a public notice on Facebook states.

Those in the restricted areas must completely cover their noses and mouths to comply with the mandate.

“While we understand this may be concerning and upsetting to some, it is something we feel must be done to keep our employees healthy to better serve this community,” the post states.

In addition to the mask mandate, the sheriff’s office is limiting the number of people that can be in the lobby of the sheriff’s office to four at any given time. There is an exception for inmate visitation.

“Deputies are still available to meet in the parking lot if you prefer to not wear a mask.”
